DENTAL IMPACT: MID CARE PROJECT

Learn how to MAKE AN IMPACT!  During RDH Under One Roof in August 2010, dental hygienists will have the opportunity to learn first hand how to organize and initiate public health projects in their communities to make an impact.  The focus for this year’s project will be the contagiousness of dental disease and the use of xylitol.  A ½ day seminar will include how to organize a community action project, how to work with your local organizations to research community needs, how to write grant applications, mobilize community partnerships and campaign for change.  In the afternoon, the program will “hit the street” and go into the Orlando community for attendees to participate first hand in various community action projects and see how it is done.

A message from Noel Kelsch, RDH, 2010 Dental Impact Chair:
"What are we aiming to change? In the dental office dental hygienists make an impact on the community on a daily basis.  By educating the public about the contagiousness of dental disease and the importance of preventive measures, hygienists change lives. Giving hygienists the tools to develop a program will make a major impact on the future of oral health."

Attendees will receive:
•    6 CE Credits
•    A detailed workbook and materials necessary to organize a community project
•    Lunch
•    Dental Impact Volunteer T-shirt
•    Round trip transportation to offsite community projects
